INTERNATIONAL PRO-AM 2009 19-21 November 2009
19-21 November 2009 saw the third staging of the annual Taba Heights International Pro-Am tournament. The immaculately presented course welcomed 35 teams for a total 140 competitors from countries as far afield as South Africa, Australia, England, Sweden and Greece.
In the Professional category, Challenge Tour Professional Bjorn Pettersson (Sweden) was crowned Champion for the 2009 Taba Heights International Pro-Am with scintillating golf over the three day event.
The team of Steve Barnett (18 H’cap), Scott McNeill (24 H’cap), Mayor Patel (12 H’cap) and Professional Norman Cilliers, were the toast of the Team Event as they raced through the field on the final day to take First Place and be crowned 2009 Team Champions.
The golf never failed to impress the crowds as the number of spectators increased each day of competition as word of the inspiring play spread throughout the resort. All competitors enjoyed unrivalled luxury from the official hotel sponsors Marriott Red Sea Resort, Hyatt Regency and InterContinental. Each hotel hosted a players’ evening with the final Gala Dinner and Prize Ceremony held in the spectacular setting the Marriott Resort.
Players were kept refreshed on the course with beverages from tournament sponsors Heineken and Pepsi, whilst each competitor took home goodie bags from Egypt’s premier golf merchandise supplier Orabi Agencies.

INTERNATIONAL PRO-AM 2007 27-29 November 2007
David Lynn Wins in Style! PGA European Tour star David Lynn delivered the goods at Taba Heights’ November 2007 Pro Am tournament. The 34 year old English golfer, who also represents the Red Sea resort on European tour, finished top of a quality field including former Ryder Cup golfer Gordon Brand Jr, English golfer Gary Evans, famed for his near miss in the 2002 Open Championship at Muirfield, and former European Tour winner Peter Mitchell.
In total, 80 golfers from 19 countries made up the 20 team event. The Pro Am is the second major golfing event in less than five months at the resort and the tournament was reminiscent of the Champion of Champions held in June 2007. Both events resembled a quality tour event and the management of the Taba Heights Golf Resort spared no expense to make all golfers feel like professionals.
The Marriott Taba Heights again proved to be a choice host allowing golfers to relax and dine at the five star beach side resort while tournament sponsor Heineken made sure all golfers were enjoying their tasty and refreshing product on and off the course! During the gala awards dinner, Heineken’s Marc Busain was on hand to hand over all prizes to the winners along with Claude Chesnais, OHD Vice President for Hotels and Golf Management. The event was fully covered by OTV with daily event and several interviews featuring prominently on the Egyptian private channel.
